Inter Milan are reportedly about to step up their attempts to sign Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku by offering Mauro Icardi in exchange.
The Nerazzurri may be forced to cash in on Icardi in the summer as the prolific frontman is refusing to sign a new contract.
Icardi was stripped of the captaincy last month and is being overlooked for selection, which the club has put down to an injury issue.
Inter fear that the Argentina international's valuation may plummet as his contract dispute continues to play out in public, but The Mirror suggests that they may use Man United's interest in the player to their advantage.
Lukaku has been eyed as an ideal replacement, it is claimed, and a swap could be on the cards ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Real Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus have also been tipped to make a move for Icardi, who has scored 122 goals in 210 appearances for Inter.
