Inter Milan will reportedly make another attempt to sign Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof during this summer's transfer window.
The Italian giants were strongly linked with the Sweden international in January and are believed to have tried to secure his services on loan for the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
However, the proposed move was rejected by Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag, who was not prepared to let any of his centre-backs depart in the winter window, with Harry Maguire also staying despite his struggles for action.
Lindelof made the move to Old Trafford from Benfica in 2017, and he has represented the Red Devils on 216 occasions in all competitions, contributing three goals and six assists in the process.
Last season, the 28-year-old featured on 35 occasions for Man United, but he has found it difficult to secure regular action during the current season.
Lindelof has featured on 20 occasions in 2022-23, but he has played just nine times in the Premier League, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane the first-choice centre-backs at Old Trafford.
The Swede has also not featured in the Europa League since the start of November, being an unused substitute for both legs of the playoff clash with Barcelona, and the last-16 first leg with Real Betis last time out.
Lindelof has a contract at Man United until the summer of 2024, with the option of a further 12 months.
Maguire continues to be strongly linked with an exit, with Ten Hag thought to be keen to keep Lindelof, but he would have to be prepared to a accept a bit-part role at the club.
As a result, the defender could depart Old Trafford this summer in search of regular action.
According to The Sun, Inter have identified Lindelof as a leading target for the upcoming transfer window.
The report claims that the Italian giants are keen to reignite their interest in the defender, having identified him as a mid-season target before admitting defeat in their pursuit.
Inter are set to be in the market for a couple of new centre-backs this summer, with Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij both only having contracts until the end of the campaign.
Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in Lindelof, although it is unclear whether the Red and Whites are planning to move for him at the end of the season.
The defender was not on the bench for Man United's goalless draw with Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon due to illness. body check tags ::
