Liverpool allegedly hold discussions over a potential move for Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat, who has been heavily linked with Manchester United this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly held discussions over a potential move for Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat.

The Reds have missed out on Moises Caicedo to Chelsea, while they are also set to be unsuccessful in their pursuit of Southampton's Romeo Lavia, who is also expected to head to Stamford Bridge.

Jurgen Klopp's side are desperate for midfield reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, and it is believed that Wataru Endo is closing in on a £16m move to Anfield from Stuttgart.

However, Liverpool are expected to sign another midfielder before the end of the transfer window, and according to Sky Italia, Amrabat has emerged as a genuine target.

The report claims that the Merseyside giants have held talks with Fiorentina via intermediaries to determine how much it could cost to sign the Morocco international before the deadline.

Fiorentina are reluctant to lose the midfielder, but his contract is due to expire next June, and it is believed that an offer somewhere in the region of £30m would be accepted by the Italian club.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Amrabat in recent weeks, with the 20-time English champions also looking to sign a holding midfielder before the window closes.

Fred has already left Old Trafford this summer, but it is understood that the Red Devils also need to move Donny van de Beek on before making an official approach for Amrabat.

The Moroccan is said to be keen to make the move to Man United but is thought to be becoming frustrated with the situation, which could allow Liverpool to rise to the head of the queue.

Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister have been added to Liverpool's midfield department this summer, with the pair both impressing in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.

However, with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all moving on, the Reds are in need of more additions before the transfer window closes.

Amrabat played a leading role in Morocco reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, and he was strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in January off the back of his strong performances in Qatar.

The midfielder also enjoyed an impressive 2022-23 campaign for Fiorentina, making 49 appearances in all competitions, helping his side to reach the final of the Europa Conference League and Coppa Italia.

Fiorentina are due to begin their Serie A season against Genoa on Saturday evening, and it remains to be seen whether Amrabat will be involved amid the speculation surrounding his future.
