Liverpool have been in talks to sign Ajax's highly-rated defender Matthijs de Ligt, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
The 19-year-old is rumoured to have an array of clubs to choose from this summer after catching the eye for double winners Ajax.
Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest, but Barcelona are widely considered to be the favourites to land his signature.
Liverpool can also be added to that list as Balague told BBC Sport the Reds have "been talking to" the Netherlands international about a potential move.
De Ligt's Ajax exit is allegedly being stalled by agent Mino Raiola as he is after a slice of the transfer fee, which is likely to be north of £50m.
