Liverpool are reportedly lining up a summer move for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare.
The 25-year-old was widely expected to leave his Dutch club last summer, with Manchester United and Arsenal among the clubs believed to be interested in his services.
However, the Ivory Coast international remained in Holland and penned a five-year contract with PSV last August, with the deal believed to include a release clause of €37m (£32.6m).
A recent report claimed that Sangare is expected to leave the Red and Whites this summer, with the midfielder's agent recently contacting the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to discuss a possible move to the Premier League at the end of the campaign.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool are lining up a move for Sangare as part of their midfield overhaul, with a number of players set to leave in that area of the field.
James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract at the end of June, while Arthur is set to return to parent club Juventus.
West Ham United have also been linked with Sangare, but it is understood that the player wants to join a club with Champions League football on offer.
Sangare has again been a vital player for PSV during the 2022-23 campaign, representing the club on 38 occasions in all competitions, scoring seven goals and registering three assists in the process.
PSV head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy recently said that the midfielder "can go to the top in England".
"Obviously he can handle [the Premier League]," Van Nistelrooy told Voetbal International. "I have challenged him because I think Ibrahim can go to the top in England.
"He would also be great in Italy or Spain. I see players in his position there now and I think Ibrahim is definitely going to take a shot at that level."
Sangare made the move to PSV from Toulouse in the summer of 2020, and he has represented the club on 126 occasions, scoring 12 goals and contributing nine assists in the process.
Liverpool also continue to be heavily linked with Jude Bellingham, but they could find it difficult to sign the Borussia Dortmund youngster without Champions League football.
The Reds are currently eighth in the Premier League table, seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, ahead of Sunday's clash with top-of-the-division Arsenal. body check tags ::
