Federico Macheda's loan spell at Doncaster Rovers has come to an end after the striker picked up a hamstring injury in Saturday's victory over Leicester City.
Macheda has now returned to his parent club Manchester United to recover from the problem, but Rovers manager Paul Dickov is confident of bringing back the Italian, who scored three goals in four games with Donny, once he is fit again.
"He came off with a tight hamstring and will be missing for a good few weeks but we are still looking at extending his deal as we hope to have him back soon," Dickov told the club's official website. "We are speaking to Manchester United to do a deal to get him back once he is fit."
Macheda had a memorable debut for Donny, scoring both goals as Rovers earned an impressive draw against Nottingham Forest.
