Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sell both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay during this summer's transfer window.

Maguire has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford this season, with the 29-year-old behind Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof when it comes to the centre-back spots, while Luke Shaw has also been used ahead of the club captain in that area of the field.

West Ham United and Aston Villa have both been linked with the England international this month, but Man United allegedly have no intention of letting him leave in the middle of the campaign.

McTominay, meanwhile, has also been linked with an exit in January, with Newcastle United said to be interested in signing the Scotland international before the window closes.

According to talkSPORT, Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag wants to keep his squad together ahead of a busy run of matches, but the Dutchman is open to both Maguire and McTominay leaving this summer.

"Manchester United are ready to cash in on both Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay – but not until the summer," said transfer expert Alex Crook.

"Manager Erik ten Hag believes both Maguire and McTominay have parts to play this season, despite neither being guaranteed starters."

Maguire kept hold of the captain's armband at Man United last summer despite struggling for form during the 2021-22 campaign.

The defender has only made 15 appearances for the Red Devils this season, though, with just eight of those coming in the Premier League.

Maguire has started just four Premier League games during the 2022-23 campaign, and he is believed to be prepared to leave Old Trafford this summer despite having another two years left to run on his deal.

McTominay has been used more regularly than Maguire this term, featuring on 24 occasions in all competitions, scoring twice and contributing one assist.

However, the Scotland international is also not a guaranteed starter, with Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes proving to be Ten Hag's first-choice midfield this season.

McTominay started against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, although he was only introduced into the XI due to the fact that Casemiro was missing through suspension.

Man United are expecting to sign a big-money centre-forward this summer, but they will need to make some major sales in order to balance the books, with Maguire and McTominay allegedly seen as players capable of raising healthy transfer fees. body check tags ::
