Manchester City have reportedly identified Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni as a potential replacement for Fernandinho.
The 22-year-old France international has been a standout performer for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, making 41 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
Tchouameni's impressive performances are believed to have caught the eye of a number of top European clubs and according to The Telegraph, City are among the teams who admire the midfielder.
The report adds that the Citizens view the Frenchman as a potential successor to Fernandinho, but they are aware that Monaco have placed a high asking price on their star man and will instead look to prioritise the signing of primary target Erling Braut Haaland.
Fernandinho has been at the Etihad Stadium since 2013, but his current contract is set to expire this summer and his future with the club remains uncertain.
Should City decide to swoop for Tchouameni, they will likely face stern competition for his services, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona also keeping tabs on the midfielder. body check tags ::
