Manchester City reportedly intend to join the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The Switzerland international has continued to enhance his reputation this season, helping his club compete with Real Madrid and Inter Milan in their Champions League group.

Manchester United and Chelsea have previously been linked with the 24-year-old, who is expected to move to a bigger club in the future.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano's Here We Go podcast, City will prioritise a bid for the player during the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the podcast, Romano said: "Manchester City are focusing on Zakaria. He is so appreciated by the board, they are following him, they are in contact with his agent. So he's for sure on the list of Manchester City."

Zakaria has just 19 months remaining on his contract with Monchengladbach.
