Manchester City are reportedly lining up talks in January with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland, over a potential move to the Etihad Stadium next summer.
The 21-year-old is expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2022, when his release clause, valued between £63m and £85m, becomes active.
Several elite clubs across Europe, including the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United, are keen to sign the Norwegian international, however Man City are hoping to jump to the front of the queue in the winter window.
According to Norwegian football expert Andreas Korssund, via the Manchester Evening News, the Citizens are set to hold talks with Haaland's agent Mino Raiola in January ahead of a proposed transfer next summer.
Pep Guardiola's side are determined to recruit a striker in one of the upcoming transfer windows and have seemingly turned their attention to Haaland, after their failed attempts to lure Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
Dortmund are not giving up hope of keeping Haaland at Signal Iduna Park, and it is understood that they will look to offer the striker a new and improved contract, which would see his wages double to around £250,000 per week.
Haaland has scored a remarkable 68 goals in 67 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions, including 11 strikes in eight games so far this season. body check tags ::
