Manchester City will reportedly turn to Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane if they miss out on Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland in their search for a new striker.
The Citizens are in the market for a high-profile name to lead their line from next season following this week's announcement that Sergio Aguero is to leave.
Aguero will depart the Etihad Stadium in the summer after 10 seasons at the club, during which time he has gone on to become City's all-time leading goalscorer.
According to The Times, Haaland remains Pep Guardiola's first choice to replace the Argentina international, but City face competition from a number of other clubs.
Should they be unable to persuade the 20-year-old to join them over the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid, it is claimed that City will go after Kane.
Kane is seven years older than Haaland, but he is used to the Premier League, having scored 160 goals in 234 appearances in the competition.
The England skipper remains under contract with Spurs until 2024, meaning that the Citizens - on course for a fifth title in 10 years - would have to spend big to prise him away. body check tags ::
