Manchester City are reportedly battling Liverpool for the signature of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara during this summer's transfer window.
The Spain international's contract at the Allianz Arena is due to expire next June, and he is widely expected to leave Bayern before the market closes in early October.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with the former Barcelona midfielder over the last few weeks, but according to Bild, City have now entered the race.
The report claims that the Citizens have outbid their Premier League rivals, with head coach Pep Guardiola determined to bring Thiago to England for the 2020-21 campaign.
The 29-year-old has again been a key player for Bayern this term, scoring three times and contributing two assists in 37 appearances in all competitions.
Manchester United have also previously been credited with an interest in a player who is allegedly valued by his German club in the region of £30m.
