Manchester United 'add two left-backs to summer transfer shortlist'

Manchester United are reportedly interested in two left-backs ahead of this summer's transfer window.

The 2023-24 season was a difficult one for the Red Devils in terms of league position, with Erik ten Hag's side finishing eighth, missing out on a European spot via their Premier League ranking.

Man United could still secure a last-gasp ticket onto the continent, although it would involve beating an outfit who have just lifted their fourth straight league crown.

A win over Pep Guardiola's record-breaking Manchester City at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final on Saturday afternoon would yield a spot in next term's revamped Europa League.

That being said, the Citizens are unlikely to be easy opposition, considering that they are yet to lose in normal time throughout the entirety of 2024.

Man United want two left-backs?

According to Sports Witness via The Sun, Manchester United are keen on two left-backs ahead of the 2024-25 season, one in which Ten Hag could still lead the club.

After an injury-hit season, the report claims that the Red Devils are desperate to provide and recruit adequate cover for that position ahead of next campaign.

It is understood that United are interested in securing the services of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, who has impressed over the past four years in the Premier League.

Since securing a permanent £10m switch from French outfit Angers in the summer of 2021, the Algerian has played 92 competitive matches for the Black Country side, scoring on six occasions.

As well as the Red Devils, it is believed that Premier League title challengers Arsenal are keen admirers of Ait-Nouri, and could make a swoop for the player this summer.

Man United 'also eyeing France international'

On top of Wolves' Ait-Nouri, it is said that Man United are targeting a move for Brest defender Bradley Locko, who has relative international experience under his belt.

The 22-year-old made his debut for France's Under-21s side earlier this year and is looking to secure a place in Thierry Henry's squad for the Paris Olympics.

Although the Red Devils are monitoring Locko, it is understood that they would prefer to sign Wolves' Ait-Nouri, given his experience in the Premier League.

There are also claims that United have shortlisted Atletico Madrid's Reinildo as a potential incoming on the red side of Manchester this summer.
