Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of announcing the signing of Gabriele Biancheri following the youngster's departure from Cardiff City.
The 16-year-old revealed on Friday that his time at Cardiff had "come to an end", with the in-demand teenager seeking pastures new after nine years at the Welsh club.
"After more than 9 years my time with Cardiff has come to an end. I'd like to thank all of my coaches for helping me become the player and person I am today and to all my teammates. I'll forever be thankful for the opportunity I've had at this club," he wrote on his official Twitter account.
There has been a host of speculation surrounding the teenager and a potential switch to Man United, with the Red Devils believed to have recently emerged as the favourites for his signature.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Biancheri is heading for the 20-time English champions.
Romano claims that the forward has already undergone a medical with Man United, and he is set to sign a four-year contract to initially represent the club's academy.
The journalist claims that two or three other English clubs were also in the running for his signature, but Erik ten Hag's side convinced him to make the move to Old Trafford.
Biancheri is expected to sign a professional contract with Man United when he turns 17 in September.
Cardiff's Under-18s manager Steve Jenkins recently told Wales Online: "There's a long way to go with him being only 16, but he's been fantastic stepping up.
"Goals are brilliant for him, and his two against Bristol City to win us the game earned that call up to the under-21s, and when he had his 45 minutes for them I was really impressed."
The Wales Under-17s international, who has scored 17 goals for Cardiff this season in various age groups, was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea last summer.
Man United only made three loan signings during the January window, bringing in Jack Butland from Crystal Palace, Wout Weghorst from Burnley and Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich.
However, the club are expected to be active during the summer market, with a new centre-forward set to arrive.
Man United are also likely to be in the market for a big-money central midfielder, with West Ham United's Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham still being linked with possible switches to Old Trafford. body check tags ::
