Manchester United are reportedly among a number of clubs who are reportedly considering a move for Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.

Since joining completing a move from Lazio in 2018, De Vrij has made 184 appearances for Inter, chipping in with nine goals and seven assists.

In his time with the club, he has lifted one Serie A title, one Coppa Italia and two Italian Super Cups, but his future with the Nerazzurri is in doubt.

De Vrij's contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and he could potentially depart on a free transfer alongside his fellow defender Milan Skriniar, who is expected to join Paris Saint-German in the summer.

Although Inter are reportedly preparing to offer De Vrij a new deal, he is attracting interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

According to SportItalia, via TeamTalk, Manchester United are one of a number of clubs who are looking at the possibility of signing De Vrij on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Although United have the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez at their disposal, they could sell Harry Maguire at the end of the season.

Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, starting only four Premier League games this season, and a potential departure would free up space in United's defensive ranks.

De Vrij has been identified as a potential transfer target for Erik ten Hag's side, and with his contract set to expire in June, he is able to talk to other clubs about a pre-contract agreement.

The centre-back allegedly has offers on the table from Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Villarreal and Feyenoord.

De Vrij's agent Federico Pastorello has indicated that his client is keen to remain with Inter, but reveals there has been interest from elsewhere.

Pastorello told Rai Sport: "I don't know if (Milan) Skriniar will go to PSG by the end of the transfer market in January. But what I can say is that the Inter managers have called me in these hours to speed up the contract renewal of De Vrij, who is my client.

"He wants to stay in Milan. However, there are also other clubs, especially the Spanish ones, who have been asking for him for some time."

Although De Vrij appears to be keen to remain at Inter, he has struggled for playing time in recent weeks, making one appearance in the club's five Serie A games since the World Cup break.

The 30-year-old, who has still featured in 19 competitive matches this season, is expected to decide his future by mid-February. body check tags ::
