Manchester United are reportedly nearing a double deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.
The Red Devils are yet to make a signing during this summer's transfer window despite a difficult 2021-22 campaign seeing them finish down in sixth spot in the Premier League table.
The 20-time English champions have been working on a deal for De Jong, though, with the club locked in talks with Barcelona over the Netherlands international this month.
A breakthrough has allegedly now occurred, with Man United reaching a "broad agreement" with the Catalan giants over the 25-year-old.
"The clubs have a broad agreement on a fee of around €65m (£56.2m) plus performance-related add-ons. Discussions continue over more details of the deal. Personal terms are not expected to be a problem and all parties are confident," said Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge.
De Jong has been strongly linked with Man United over the last few weeks, with new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag said to be desperate for a reunion with the player that he managed at Ajax.
The club have also moved into the driving seat for Malacia, with Feyenoord director Frank Arnesen revealing that the Dutch outfit have reached an agreement with Man United over the left-back.
"The agreement is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent," Arnesen told 1908.nl.
Lyon were thought to be on the verge of signing the Dutchman, only for Man United to swoop in at the final moment, and a deal in the region of £12.9m has allegedly been agreed.
According to BBC Sport, the 20-time English champions are now close to completing a double deal for Malacia and De Jong, with the duo set to become Ten Hag's first signings at Old Trafford.
Man United already have two first-team left-backs in the shape of Luke Shaw and Alex Telles, although it has been claimed that Malacia's arrival could lead to the latter departing this summer.
The Red Devils have also reportedly placed a contract offer on the table for Christian Eriksen, with the Denmark international set to leave Brentford at the end of the month.
A new centre-back, a wide forward and a centre-forward are also said to be on Ten Hag's shortlist, but the deal for De Jong could take up a chunk of the team's summer budget.
Man United have been back in pre-season training this week, as they prepare for their tour of Thailand and Australia, with the team due to fly out on July 8.
The Red Devils will take on Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano as part of their preparations for the 2022-23 campaign. body check tags ::
