Manchester United have reportedly scouted Sporting Lisbon's Joao Palhinha eight times this season, ahead of a proposed move for the midfielder in the summer.
The 26-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Primeira Liga holders, featuring in 30 games across all competitions this season.
Palhinha is believed to have attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with the likes of Man United, Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United all keeping tabs on the Portugal international.
According to Portuguese news outlet Record, the Red Devils have sent scouts to watch Palhinha in Portugal on eight separate occasions this term.
The report adds that United considered swooping for the midfielder last summer but they were discouraged by Sporting's £33m asking price.
The Portuguese giants have since lowered their valuation of Palhinha to around £25m, a figure United would be willing to pay this summer.
Palhinha, who could link up with compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot at Old Trafford, is under contract at Sporting until June 2026. body check tags ::
