Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Atletico Madrid over a proposed move for forward Joao Felix.

The 22-year-old move to the Wanda Metropolitano for a club-record £114m in the summer of 2019, but the Portugal international has struggled to reach the heights expected in the Spanish capital.

Felix has contributed with 29 goals and 18 assists in 112 appearances for Atletico across all tournaments and was reduced to just 13 La Liga starts last season due to injury.

With Felix allegedly considering a fresh challenge, Marca claims that United have expressed their interest in the forward and have held discussions with Atletico over a possible summer transfer.

The report adds that United representatives met with the player's entourage on Tuesday at both the Wanda Metropolitano and at a hotel in Madrid.

However, Atletico are believed to have informed the Red Devils that they have no interest in letting Felix leave the club this summer.

The former Benfica man still has four years left on his contract at Atletico and is expected to remain with the La Liga club unless United table a significant offer in the final two weeks of the transfer window.

Felix has made a bright start to the 2022-23 campaign with Atletico, as he provided three assists in their 3-0 La Liga win over Getafe on Monday.

Felix set up two goals for Alvaro Morata, who is another striker to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford along with teammate Matheus Cunha.

Erik ten Hag's side are understood to have held talks with Atletico over a possible deal for the 29-year-old Spaniard, while a recent report claims that 23-year-old Cunha has turned down the chance to join the Red Devils.

Atletico are not the only Madrid-based outfit that have players of interest to United, as they are reportedly eyeing up a £50m swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.

The Red Devils have grown frustrated with their pursuit of Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, while a move for Juventus' Adrien Rabiot is looking increasingly unlikely as both parties are unable to agree personal terms.

Casemiro, who still has three years remaining on his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, has spent the last nine years with Los Blancos, making 336 appearances across all tournaments and winning a total of 18 trophies including five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.

The 30-year-old is still regarded as an invaluable asset under Carlo Ancelotti, although he did not start their opening La Liga game of the new season against Almeira, with Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga and summer signing Aurelien Tchouameni all preferred ahead of him in midfield.
