Manchester United have reportedly held discussions with Atletico Madrid regarding the transfer of Kieran Trippier.
The England international has been a huge hit at Wanda Metropolitano since his arrival in 2019, contributing nine assists from his 52 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 30-year-old's contract is due to expire in 2022, a situation which has led to clubs beginning to take an interest in the player.
According to The Athletic, United have emerged as strong contenders for Trippier as they bid to find competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The report claims that the player, who is currently banned until the end of February due to breaching FA betting regulations, is open to returning to the Premier League in the future.
Trippier was born in the North-West of England, something which could prove a decisive factor when considering his next move.
