Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly battling Manchester United for the signature of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during this summer's transfer window.
The 27-year-old has again been in strong form for Lazio during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 11 goals and registering 12 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.
Milinkovic-Savic only has little over two years left to run on his contract in Rome, though, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent weeks.
Incoming Man United head coach Erik ten Hag is believed to be keen to bring the Serbia international to Old Trafford in the upcoming market.
However, according to Calciomercato, Real Madrid and PSG are also interested in signing the central midfielder during this summer's transfer window.
Juventus have also been linked with Milinkovic-Savic, but Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri has said that the midfielder "will not remain in Italy" if he leaves the club.
"Speaking to the president, I have become convinced that if Milinkovic does leave, and that will not happen easily, he will not remain in Italy," Sarri told Goal.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito recently insisted that the Serbian is not for sale, but the Serie A giants are believed to be open to considering big-money offers in the upcoming market.
"Milinkovic is not for sale. I turned down €140m (£120m) bid for him [years ago]", Lotito told Rai Sport. "I'd ask Sergej what he wants to do only in case we receive an important proposal from a world-class top club."
The midfielder has registered 58 goals and 51 assists in 293 appearances for the Italian club since arriving from Genk in August 2015.
Man United are expected to move for at least one new midfielder during this summer's transfer window, as Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba both prepare to leave the club on free transfers.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are also believed to be in the market for a new central midfielder despite the fact that Luka Modric is on the verge of signing a one-year contract extension.
PSG will also be active in the upcoming market regardless of whether they are able to keep hold of Kylian Mbappe, who will be out of contract at the end of June.
Real Madrid are still working to acquire the France international on a free transfer, but the French champions have now given up hope of signing the World Cup winner to an extension.
Milinkovic-Savic played the full 90 minutes of Lazio's 2-2 draw with Juventus in Serie A on Monday, sporting the captain's armband for Sarri's side.
