Manchester United are reportedly lining up a summer move for AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong.
The 30-year-old, who spent three seasons at local rivals Manchester City, is said to be keen on a move away from San Siro unless his wage demands are met.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims that the Netherlands international is holding out for an annual salary in the region of £1.42m, with United willing to offer him in excess of £30,000 a week.
It is also suggested that, with fellow defensive midfielders Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari expected to leave Milan this summer, De Jong is in a strong position to negotiate fresh terms at the fallen Italian giants.
Louis van Gaal managed the 2012 Premier League winner during his time in charge of the Dutch national team.
