Christian Eriksen is reportedly 'getting closer' to making a final decision on his future, with Manchester United one of the main contenders for his signature this summer.
The 30-year-old joined Brentford in January after leaving Inter Milan and impressed for the Bees in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign, scoring once and providing four assists in 11 Premier League appearances.
Eriksen's contract with Thomas Frank's side is due to expire at the end of the month, though, and he has allegedly made the decision to seek pastures new in the current market.
Man United are believed to have offered the Denmark international a contract, with the club's new head coach Erik ten Hag viewing him as a priority signing this summer.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Eriksen's decision on his future is 'getting closer', with a final call set to be made 'in the next hours/days'.
Eriksen claims that there are 'many proposals' on the table, with Brentford still battling to keep hold of the playmaker, but Tottenham Hotspur are not planning to bring him back to North London.
"No (rush the decision), and they know that too," Bold.dk recently quoted the Dane as saying. "There are many criteria and many different things inside such a decision. Sometimes it goes fast in football, other times a little slower. You are not in control of it yourself. I have to make the best decision and not rush anything through.
"My phone stays on, but I also know my agent well enough to know that he only calls if there's something exciting."
Meanwhile, Eriksen recently told Viaplay: "I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision. I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn't essential for me."
The attacker had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator device fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020, which saw him leave Inter Milan.
"Erik ten Hag has made it so clear to the Man United board that he wants both Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen. If they don't get those two players, it would be a breakdown of his ID and his model and his style at United," Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan told Sky Sports News when asked about a potential move to Old Trafford for the attacker.
"Erik ten Hag doesn't want any other players apart from those two first. Ten Hag says he's seen the style of Barcelona and Ajax - if you want to play a certain attacking style, then you need Frenkie.
"With Christian Eriksen, at the beginning of this year, he's come back from his heart shock. Erik ten Hag was able to witness with his own eyes the fitness of Eriksen again and those performances for Brentford really convinced him."
Eriksen previously represented Tottenham in the Premier League between 2013 and 2020, making 305 appearances for the North London outfit, scoring 69 goals and registering 90 assists in the process.
Man United will be back in pre-season training on Monday, with those not involved for their countries over the recent international break expected to report for duty. body check tags ::
