Manchester United have reportedly touched base with Cristiano Ronaldo's agent as they aim to bring the Juventus attacker back to Old Trafford.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner is yet to pen an extension on his Juve contract past 2022, and he is being tipped to end his association with the Old Lady following their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Porto.
Ronaldo has been linked with returns to either Man United or Real Madrid, but Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has ruled his side out of the running to land their former attacker.
Juve chief Fabio Paratici had previously quashed rumours of a summer exit for Ronaldo, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 36-year-old is open to a departure after a frustrating campaign, and Man United have been in contact with his agent Jorge Mendes.
The report adds that Ronaldo would have to take a significant hit on his £27m yearly wages, but he would be willing to do so in order to seal a return to Old Trafford, and Juve are happy to accept a cut-price figure of £26m for the attacker.
The Portugal international has scored 32 goals and set up four more across all competitions this season, and his first spell at Man United saw him amass 118 goals from 292 appearances between 2003 and 2009. body check tags ::
