Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their interest in Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey.
The 23-year-old has been in strong form for his Turkish club during the 2023-24 campaign, featuring on 21 occasions in all competitions, scoring once in the process.
Boey's contract with Galatasaray is due to expire in the summer of 2025, though, and a number of clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.
A recent report claimed that Man United had been scouting the Frenchman this season, with their interest ramping up after his performance in Galatasaray's 3-2 win at Old Trafford in the Champions League.
Arsenal are also said to be admirers, with his Turkish club potentially being placed in a difficult position next year if they are unable to convince him to sign a new long-term deal.
According to RMC Sport, Man United have 'made enquiries' over a potential deal for Boey, with the defender being identified as a target for next year.
Boey started his professional career at Rennes before moving to Galatasaray in 2021, and he has represented the Turkish side on 73 occasions, scoring three goals and registering four assists.
Right-back had allegedly been an area that Man United head coach Erik ten Hag wanted to improve during the recent transfer window, but the club's plans changed due to Aaron Wan-Bissaka's impressive form in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
Wan-Bissaka is out of contract next year, but the club have the option to activate an additional 12 months, which is expected to be the case, as the 25-year-old is back to being first choice on the right.
Diogo Dalot signed a new long-term deal over the summer, meanwhile, and the Portugal international has again been a regular this season, making 16 appearances.
There has been criticism of his defensive performances this term, though, and he has recently been used as a left-back due to the team's injuries in that area of the field.
A move for Boey would be difficult unless either Dalot or Wan-Bissaka moved on, and it is unclear at this stage whether Man United could make a formal offer for the Galatasaray defender next year.
The club are said to be planning to move for a new striker in January, though, and Porto's Mehdi Taremi has allegedly emerged as their leading target in that area of the field.
The 20-time English champions will be aiming to bounce back from their 4-3 loss to Copenhagen in the Champions League when they host Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday. body check tags ::
