Manchester United are reportedly eager to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas this summer.
The 26-year-old returned to his boyhood club in 2011 following an eight-year stint in the Premier League with Arsenal.
However, despite the fact that he has featured in the starting lineup on a regular basis, his performances at times have been criticised by certain sections of the Camp Nou faithful as well as the local press.
United are keen to capitalise on that by offering the Spanish international a return to England, according to the London Evening Standard.
The report has also claimed that the Red Devils have already made contact with officials from Barca, who would look to recoup most of the reported £30m that they paid two years ago.
The Red Devils are thought to want to make at least one big-money signing during the pre-season break as a sign of intent following the retirement of long-serving manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the subsequent appointment of David Moyes on a six-year contract.
