Manchester United are reportedly still prepared to allow Casemiro to leave this summer.

Casemiro, who arrived from Real Madrid in 2022, made a positive impression in his first season at Old Trafford, appearing in 53 competitive matches to help the club win the EFL Cup and achieve a third-placed finish.

The Brazilian remained a regular fixture in Erik ten Hag's side for the 2023-24 campaign, chipping in with five goals and three assists in 32 matches in all competitions.

However, his performances last season drew significant criticism, raising doubt as to whether he still could play at the highest level.

As a result, there has been speculation suggesting that Man United could look to offload Casemiro this summer despite the fact that he is under contract until June 2026 with an option for a further year.

Casemiro still faces uncertain future

A recent report claimed that there had been no serious proposals for Casemiro, raising the prospect that he could remain at Old Trafford for next season.

However, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, there is still a 'concrete possibility' that Casemiro will leave the Red Devils this summer.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League are currently in contact with the player's representatives as they continue to discuss terms of a potential deal.

For Man United's part, they are open to sanctioning a summer departure to create room in the squad for a new midfielder.

Who could replace Casemiro?

If Casemiro were to leave this summer, new Man United sporting director Dan Ashworth would be charged with finding his replacement.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of midfielders, with Paris Saint-Germain's Manuel Ugarte believed to be one of their top targets.

Ugarte, a Uruguay international, appears to be heading towards the exit door despite only joining PSG from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich, Benfica's Joao Neves and Sporting's Morten Hjulmand have all been mooted as possible midfield targets.
