Manchester United owners the Glazers have reportedly now told head coach Erik ten Hag that 'the money is there' for the Dutchman to make the additions he wants during the summer market.

The Red Devils have already made one signing during the current window, with English attacker Mason Mount arriving from Chelsea in a £55m deal.

The club are believed to be closing in on a move for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, meanwhile, with the Cameroonian expected to be confirmed as a Man United player in the near future.

Atalanta BC's Rasmus Hojlund is also a leading target for the 20-time English champions, with the Denmark international thought to be pushing for a switch to Old Trafford.

There has been huge uncertainty when it comes to the size of Man United's transfer budget, with the Glazers in discussions over a sale of the club.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani is currently seen as the favourite to buy the club, although British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains in the hunt for a deal.

The Glazers had allegedly initially told Ten Hag that the budget would be restricted this summer despite the Dutchman leading the club back into the Champions League for next season.

However, according to The Mirror, the current owners have now performed a U-turn despite the fact that they could end their association with the Red Devils in the near future.

The report claims that Ten Hag has now been told that he will have 'the financial firepower' to make the signings he wants during the summer market.

Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat is also being heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with the Morocco international thought to be a midfield target for the club.

Man United will have to make some first-team sales this summer to comply with the financial regulations, though, with Harry Maguire, Fred, Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga all being linked with exits.

Anthony Martial will also allegedly be allowed to leave for the right price, but Ten Hag will be wary of letting another attacker depart considering his limited options in that area of the field.

Man United started their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Leeds United in Oslo last Wednesday.

The 20-time English champions will be back in action against Lyon on Wednesday before heading to the United States for their pre-season tour, which will include games against Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. body check tags ::
