Manchester United are reportedly planning to progress contract talks with Bruno Fernandes.
The Portugal international has been a key player for the Red Devils since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, scoring 40 goals and registering 25 assists in 80 appearances in all competitions.
Fernandes still has four years left to run on his contract at Old Trafford, but the 20-time English champions are said to be keen to hand the attacker a pay rise to reflect his importance to the side.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, contract talks with the Portuguese have already been opened, but the club are now preparing to progress the discussions.
Romano claims that after the addition of Jadon Sancho, who will pick up a large wage at Old Trafford, Man United know that they must hand Fernandes an increased salary.
The attacker enjoyed an impressive 2020-21 campaign for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, scoring 28 times and registering 17 assists in 58 appearances in all competitions.
Fernandes found it difficult to make his mark for his country at Euro 2020, though, as the holders of the European Championship were eliminated by Belgium in the round of 16. body check tags ::
