Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo.
Throughout the January transfer window, Zaniolo has been linked with a move away from Stadio Olimpico having been at the club since 2018.
Over the weekend, manager Jose Mourinho confirmed that the 23-year-old had requested a transfer, although hinted that there was no certainty of a move materialising.
Speaking to reporters, the Portuguese said: "Nicolo Zaniolo has asked to leave the club - but I am not sure that it's gonna happen. Current proposals are not enough.
"We only need a good proposal to let Zaniolo leave, and we've not received it. My feeling is that at the end, he will stay."
Mourinho's comments appear to be based on teams preferring to negotiate an initial loan agreement and possess the option to buy in the future.
If reports are to be believed, Roma are insisting on a fee in the region of £35m for a player who has less than 18 months remaining on his contract.
Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have both allegedly registered an interest in the Italy international as they bid to strengthen in the final third.
However, AreaNapoli claims that the player has been offered to the likes of Man United and PSG in recent weeks.
United are considering their options in the final third, even with Wout Weghorst having arrived from Burnley on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, PSG have recently freed up space on their wage bill with the sale of Pablo Sarabia to Wolverhampton Wanderers, although it remains unclear whether they intend to replace the Spaniard.
Zaniolo has been a regular in the Roma side this season, making a total of 15 starts and two substitute appearances in all competitions.
During those outings, he has contributed just two goals and one assist, and Roma have posted 2-0 wins over Fiorentina and Spezia during his recent absence from the team. body check tags ::
