Nice have reportedly informed Manchester United that the price to sign central defender Jean-Clair Todibo during this summer's transfer window is between €55m (£47m) and €60m (£51m).
The 24-year-old was linked with a move to the Red Devils last year, but a switch to Old Trafford would only have been possible had Harry Maguire left amid interest from West Ham United.
There remains speculation surrounding the Frenchman's future, with Man United believed to be considering reigniting their interest during the summer market.
However, according to 90min, Nice's asking price is a problem, with the French outfit wanting between €55m (£47m) and €60m (£51m) to let him leave at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
The report claims that the fee 'is a concern' for the Red Devils, as the club are hoping to strengthen in a number of areas during the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to have made an offer for Todibo in January but walked away due to Nice's asking price, while there is also believed to be interest from Chelsea.
Potential suitors allegedly believe that €40m (£34m) is a fair price for the Frenchman, but Nice are unlikely to alter their stance, as the defender has another three years left on his contract.
Todibo admitted last month that he could not commit himself to Nice beyond the end of the season.
"I feel really good at Nice. We'll see what happens in the summer but we're not there yet. I don't want to get ahead of myself. I don't want to give false hope. For now, I'm here at Nice," he told reporters at the time.
Todibo has featured on 23 occasions for Nice during the 2023-24 campaign, including 21 appearances in Ligue 1, with his club sitting in sixth position in the table.
The defender started his professional career at Toulouse before moving to Barcelona in 2019, but he only made five appearances for the Catalan outfit during a disappointing spell.
Man United will move for at least one new centre-back this summer, with Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite and Benfica's Antonio Silva also of interest to the club.
Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane both only have deals at Old Trafford until the end of the campaign, while Victor Lindelof could potentially leave for the right price in the upcoming market.
There also remains uncertainty surrounding the future of Maguire despite the England international proving to be a dependable performer this season when available. body check tags ::
