Manchester United have reportedly revived their interest in signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid this summer.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the right-back throughout the current transfer window, but have so far been unwilling to meet Atletico's asking price of £28m.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to still want a new midfielder and more coverage at right-back before Tuesday's deadline, although Friday's unexpected signing of Cristiano Ronaldo could make further additions more difficult.
However, The Athletic reports that uncertainty over the future of Diogo Dalot, who is wanted by Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, has caused Man United to rekindle their pursuit of Trippier.
The Red Devils will not allow Dalot to leave Old Trafford without bringing in a replacement, although there remain a number of stumbling blocks in the way of that happening.
Chief amongst those is still Trippier's price tag, with Man United initially hoping that they could sign the England international for just £10m.
Arsenal are also interested in a deal for the 30-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur defender, although they too are unwilling to meet Atletico's demands. body check tags ::
