Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly sent scouts to watch Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand at Euro 2024.
Hjulmand spent time in the youth system at Danish side Copenhagen, before completing a move to Austrian club Admira Wacker in 2018.
After staying in Austria for a couple of years, Hjulmand made the move to Italy in 2021 to join Lecce, who were competing in Serie B at the time.
Hjulmand helped the Italian club win promotion in 2021-22 and stayed on for one Serie A season before he completed the switch to Sporting last summer.
The Dane enjoyed a successful first season in Portugal, chipping in with four goals and four assists in 49 competitive matches to Ruben Amorim's side.
Man United, Spurs scout Hjulmand
Hjulmand may have only joined Sporting last summer, but he is already attracting significant interest from across Europe.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, Man United and Tottenham are among his admirers, having sent scouts to watch him in action at Euro 2024.
Man United and Tottenham had scouts in attendance for Thursday's 1-1 draw between Denmark and England in Frankfurt.
Those representatives would have been left impressed after Hjulmand produced a stunning long-range strike to pull Denmark level in the 34th minute.
Although he is being linked with a Premier League move, the 24-year-old is believed to be happy at Sporting and is keen to remain with the Portuguese giants for at least one more season.
Premier League duo facing competition from elsewhere
With Hjulmand content with his current situation, Man United and Spurs may find it difficult to prise him away from the Estadio Jose Avalade.
They are also facing competition from a couple of European heavyweights, with Ben Jacobs reporting that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are all keeping tabs on the Danish midfielder.
Considering the significant interest, Amorim wants assurances from Sporting that Hjulmand will not be sold unless his €80m (£67m) release clause is met.
Hjulmand's current focus will be on Denmark's last-16 bid, with his country requiring a win from Tuesday's final group game against Serbia. body check tags ::
