Manchester United have reportedly indicated that they wish to hold contract talks with defender Eric Bailly.
The centre-back has suffered two significant knee injuries since the beginning of the year, the second of which is expected to keep the Ivory Coast international on the sidelines until 2020.
However, with less than 12 months remaining on the player's contract, United find themselves at risk of losing the 25-year-old on a free transfer.
According to The Sun, that has resulted in United looking to negotiate fresh terms with Bailly, despite the possibility of him being regarded as fifth choice in the middle of defence.
Harry Maguire, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are all considered ahead of Bailly in the pecking order, while Axel Tuanzebe is expected to be provided with minutes this season.
