Manchester United are reportedly confident that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's new deal at Old Trafford will put them in a strong position to compete for Erling Braut Haaland's signature next summer.
The Norway international looks set to spend one more season with Borussia Dortmund before leaving next year, when there will be a £68m release clause in his contract.
Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City could all compete for Haaland in 2022, but according to the Daily Star, Man United's hopes of a deal have been boosted by Solskjaer's new contract.
The 48-year-old, who has penned a new three-year deal with the 20-time English champions, has a long-standing relationship with Haaland, having managed him at Molde.
The Norwegian has scored 57 times in 59 appearances for Dortmund since arriving in January 2020, including 41 goals in 41 outings in all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign.
The 21-year-old is believed to be a £150m transfer target for Chelsea in the current market, but the Blues are likely to be frustrated in their pursuit of the centre-forward. body check tags ::
