Manchester United 'could still offload four players in domestic window'

Manchester United could reportedly still offload four players, including Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Sergio Romero, during the extended domestic transfer window.

Manchester United could reportedly still offload up to four more players this summer.

The deadline for international transfers and deals between top-flight clubs passed on Monday, with United bringing in Alex Telles, Edinson Cavani and Facundo Pellistri on the final day of the window, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still eager to trim his squad, having only managed to ship out Chris Smalling on a permanent deal to Roma on deadline day.

Deals between Premier League clubs and EFL clubs are still able to be struck until October 16, and The Mirror reports that United could look to take advantage of that by offloading four fringe players.

Defensive duo Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo, the latter of whom spent last season out on loan, are among the players deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

The report claims that Sergio Romero could also be sold after he fell further down the pecking order with the return of Dean Henderson from a loan spell at Sheffield United.

Should Romero stay at the club then another goalkeeper Lee Grant could be shipped out to a Championship team.

However, the wages of Jones, Rojo and Romero in particular would likely price most lower-league clubs out of signing them unless United foot a large chunk of the bill.
