Manchester United are reportedly considering making an attempt to sign experienced Spanish striker Joselu during this summer's transfer window.
The 34-year-old is on loan at Real Madrid from Espanyol, and he has proven to be an important squad player for Carlo Ancelotti's side this season, scoring 13 goals and registering three assists in 38 appearances.
Joselu recently expressed a desire to join Los Blancos on a permanent basis this summer, with the forward revealing that the La Liga leaders have the option to sign him on a long-term deal.
However, Real Madrid are expected to bring in Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, and it remains to be seen whether a permanent move for Joselu is pursued.
According to Relevo, Man United are keeping an eye on the situation, with the Red Devils recently expressing to Real Madrid that they have an interest in the experienced forward.
The report claims that the 20-time English champions were keen to learn Joselu's asking price, as he has been identified as the ideal player to support Rasmus Hojlund at Old Trafford next season.
Real Madrid are allegedly yet to make a final call on the Spaniard, but the player would choose to join Real Madrid this summer over any other club.
Joselu has managed eight goals and two assists in 27 La Liga appearances this season, while he has also struck three times in eight outings in the Champions League.
The forward, who has five goals in 10 caps for Spain and is set to travel to Euro 2024, has previous experience of playing in the Premier League, turning out for both Stoke City and Newcastle United, managing 10 goals and three assists in 68 appearances in the competition.
Hojlund expected to remain Man United's number one striker next season
Man United desperately need to bring in a new striker this summer, as Anthony Martial is set to depart on a free transfer, which would leave Hojlund as the club's only senior centre-forward.
However, due to the other areas of the squad which need strengthening, it is unlikely that the 20-time English champions will spend heavily on a star name in the final third of the field.
Instead, an experienced option could be brought in to provide support for Hojlund, who has shown a lot of promising signs in recent months after a slow start to his Red Devils career.
The Denmark international had to wait until Boxing Day to net his first Premier League goal, but he has seven in his last six outings in England's top flight, while the 21-year-old managed five goals in the group stage of the Champions League.
A player of Joselu's ilk could be the ideal back-up to Hojlund next term, although Man United will be unable to make any firm plans when it comes to a possible move until Real Madrid have made a final decision.
