Manchester United have reportedly submitted a €60m (£51m) bid for Lille defender Leny Yoro, with the Red Devils attempting to beat Real Madrid to his signature this summer.
The 18-year-old came through the youth system at Lille, progressing to first-team level in 2022, and he has featured on 60 occasions for the club in all competitions.
Yoro ended the 2023-24 campaign with 44 appearances, with 32 of those coming in Ligue 1, and there has been a host of speculation surrounding his future in recent months.
Real Madrid continue to be heavily linked with the teenager, while Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be huge admirers, having watched him closely during the recent season.
However, according to Marca, Man United have now made a bid of €60m (£51m) for the defender, which has moved the Red Devils into pole position for his signature.
Man United 'make £51m offer for Yoro'
The report claims that Real Madrid have told Yoro to be patient when it comes to a potential move to the Bernabeu, but Man United are determined to win the race.
The defender only has 12 months left to run on his contract with Lille, and he is widely expected to leave this summer, with a new deal at his current club not thought to be likely.
Ex-Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has claimed that Yoro is ready-made for the Premier League, branding the youngster "a real talent".
"Yoro is ready to play at a higher level. This kid is a real talent. He is only 19 years old but I think he is ready to test himself in the Premier League," the Manchester Evening News quotes Sagna as saying.
"It looks like he will definitely be moving on this summer, and I think he could be an excellent signing. He has the potential to be one of the best players in the world in his position and is a very exciting talent."
What is the centre-back situation at Man United?
Raphael Varane has played his last game for the club, with the ex-France international set to officially leave the 20-time English champions when his contract expires at the end of June.
Man United have confirmed that discussions are taking place with Jonny Evans, though, over the possibility of a new deal, with the experienced defender impressing last season.
Lisandro Martinez is certain to stay, but there is speculation surrounding the futures of both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, with the Red Devils thought to be open to offers for the duo.
Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite is still believed to be Man United's leading target, but the Englishman could be priced out of a switch, as he is said to be valued by the Toffees in the region of £80m.
Antonio Silva is another alleged target, but his release clause is €100m (£85m), and Benfica are not thought to be willing to entertain offers under his buy-out fee. body check tags ::
