Manchester United officials have allegedly met with the agent of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
After a campaign which saw him score 33 goals for the Portuguese side, Fernandes has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool have each been suggested as a potential destination for the playmaker, who could cost in the region of £70m.
However, O Jogo claims that talks have taken place between members of the United hierarchy and Fernandes's representatives over a big-money transfer.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to add more creativity to his side from the middle of the park, while the Norwegian will also be wary of Paul Pogba's possible departure.
