Manchester United are reportedly ready to make David de Gea the highest-paid goalkeeper in history in order to keep him at the club.
The 24-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his current deal, has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in recent times as a replacement for Iker Casillas.
However, a report in The Sun claims that United will now offer the Spaniard a new five-year contract worth £36.4m to fend off interest from elsewhere.
De Gea initially made a slow start to life at Old Trafford following his £17.8m move from Atletico Madrid three years ago, but he has been in inspired form this season to win his side a number of points.
Louis van Gaal's charges are currently third in the Premier League table.
