Manchester United have reportedly slapped a £50m price tag on David de Gea in a bid to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
The European champions have been linked with a move for the Spanish goalkeeper recently, with speculation intensifying following United's signing of former Barcelona stopper Victor Valdes.
Reports have suggested that United will offer the La Liga side £50m plus De Gea in a bid to bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford.
United hope that a world-record £50m valuation on De Gea will be enough to deter Real from making a bid, according to The Express.
They will also attempt to persuade him to stay at Old Trafford by offering him a bumper five-year contract.
De Gea joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011 for £18.6m.
