Manchester United have reportedly joined local rivals Manchester City in the race to sign Rodri from Atletico Madrid this summer.
Recent reports have suggested that City are willing to meet Rodri's release clause of €70m (£59.7m) after identifying him as a potential long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
However, Marca claims that the English champions could face competition for his signature from a number of Europe's biggest clubs.
Manchester United are among the giants considering a bid for the 22-year-old, while Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest.
All of the interested parties are understood to be willing to meet Rodri's release clause, having earmarked the Spain international as a player who could dominate his position for the next decade.
Rodri rejoined Atletico from Villarreal last season in a deal thought to be worth around €25m (£21.3m).
