Manchester United will reportedly offer Tottenham Hotspur a cash-plus-player deal to try to lure Rafael van der Vaart to Old Trafford over the summer.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to offer Spurs £20m for the Dutch international, according to Caughtoffside.com.

Federico Macheda and Dimitar Berbatov are thought to be two of the players Ferguson has in mind to use as a makeweight in any potential deal for the 29-year-old.

Van der Vaart moved to White Hart Lane from Real Madrid in August 2010 for £8m.
