Manchester United have been linked with a surprise move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.
Hamburg were thought to have been considering a bid for the 29-year-old before ending their interest earlier this week.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could now try to tempt the Dutch international to Old Trafford, according to caughtoffside.com.
Van der Vaart joined Spurs from Real Madrid in 2010 for £8m.
