Despite still pushing to win the Europa League, Manchester United find themselves looking to be proactive with regards to their transfer business.
Not only does Ole Gunnar Solskjaer want to make a number of significant additions, a certain level of focus is also being placed on freeing up space on the club's wage bill.
However, like they are finding when it comes to attempting to sign players, patience is going to be required in order to recoup their desired fees.
Tuesday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:
Manchester United 'agree permanent exit for Alexis Sanchez'
Manchester United are reportedly on the brink of agreeing a deal with Inter Milan for out-of-favour forward Alexis Sanchez.
Before football was brought to an abrupt halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, United feared that Inter would shy away from turning the Chile international's loan spell into a permanent deal.
However, the playmaker was a revelation after the resumption, contributing three goals and seven assists to help Inter into the runners-up spot behind Serie A champions Juventus.
According to Corriere della Sera, this has convinced club officials to commit to securing the services of the 31-year-old on a full-time basis.
The report suggests that an announcement could be made after Inter's Europa League last-16 tie with Getafe on Wednesday evening.
Manchester United 'hold talks with Gabriel Magalhaes over £27m deal'
With Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof having formed an effective partnership in defence, Solskjaer's search for a new centre-back is less urgent than in the past.
However, United continue to be linked with a move for Lille's Gabriel Magalhaes, who starred for the French club on both the domestic and European scene last season.
According to RMC Sport, the two parties are now in discussions regarding a deal for the Brazilian ahead of the upcoming campaign.
The report suggests that United want to sign the 22-year-old for £27m, a fee which would likely be matched by other interested sides.
Despite Lille qualifying for the Champions League for the second campaign in succession, they are open to cashing in on one of their key men.
Manchester United 'working on financial package for Jadon Sancho'
While it is becoming increasingly likely that Jadon Sancho will leave Borussia Dortmund for United this summer, the size of the fee remains a constant topic for debate.
Although Dortmund have previously suggested that they want any money paying up front, United have pushed to share the financial outlay over a number of years.
According to Bild, the two parties are close to reaching a compromise which would see Dortmund eventually receive £108m.
The report suggests that United will pay just over half of the fee in the coming weeks, with the remainder being given to the German side in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
