Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic.
The Red Devils are expected to sign at least one attacker before the end of the transfer window, while there could be two forward arrivals if Cristiano Ronaldo departs the club.
Man United have been strongly linked with Red Bull Salzburg's Benjamin Sesko, but they could ultimately be priced out of a switch for the in-demand 19-year-old.
According to the Daily Mail, the 20-time English champions have also identified Kalajdzic as a possible target, with the 6ft 7in striker said to be available for around £17m this summer.
The 25-year-old scored six goals and registered two assists in 15 Bundesliga appearances last season, being forced to miss a chunk of the campaign due to a shoulder problem.
Kalajdzic, who has been capped on 15 occasions by Austria, joined Stuttgart from Admira Wacker in 2019, representing the German club 57 times, scoring 24 goals in the process.
The centre-forward scored 16 Bundesliga goals during the 2020-21 campaign, and it is understood that a number of Premier League clubs have scouted him.
Ronaldo's exit would leave Man United short in the final third of the field, with Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho their only other senior options heading into the new season.
The 20-time English champions have been strongly linked with Antony throughout the summer, but Ajax are said to value the Brazil international in excess of £80m.
Man United have made three signings this summer, bringing in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, while they continue to work on a deal for Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong.
Meanwhile, the 20-time English champions have confirmed the appointment of former South Africa striker Benni McCarthy as a first-team coach.
"McCarthy left his post as AmaZulu head coach in March after guiding the South African team to a record second position in the league. In 2020/21, he was named the South African Premier League's Coach of the Season," read a statement on Man United's official website.
"The ex-forward will specialise in coaching attacking plays and positioning."
The 44-year-old represented Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United during his time in English football, scoring 37 goals in the Premier League during his professional career.
McCarthy will work alongside Eric Ramsay and Darren Fletcher as a coach, with Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren assisting head coach Erik ten Hag in the new campaign. body check tags ::
