Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy before the end of the summer transfer window.
The 35-year-old joined the Foxes from Fleetwood Town in 2012 and has made 387 appearances for the club in all competitions, contributing 164 goals and 64 assists in the process.
In the Premier League, the centre-forward has managed 133 goals and 46 assists in 272 appearances, including 17 goals and two assists in 33 matches for Brendan Rodgers's side last term.
Vardy is yet to register in the 2022-23 campaign, but he did provide an assist during Leicester's 2-2 draw with Brentford on the opening weekend of the season.
The Englishman has entered the final year of his contract at King Power Stadium, which has led to speculation surrounding his future.
According to The Athletic, Man United are considering moving for Vardy before the end of the summer transfer window, as the club look to boost their forward options for the 2022-23 campaign.
Cristiano Ronaldo is seemingly set to stay at Old Trafford this summer, but the Red Devils are still expected to improve their attack before the end of the transfer window.
Leicester boss Rodgers recently revealed that the club had opened talks with Vardy over a potential new contract with the former Premier League champions.
"There's talks going on behind the scenes. Nothing to inform you on, but we'd love him to stay. He's still sharp. He's still going to influence games. Hopefully, between his representatives and the club we'll find a solution," the club's head coach told reporters.
"He's a master of finishing. If you look at the fitness tests he's done, he still very fit and strong. If you have a look at the goals he's scored in pre-season, he's working hard. But his eyes light up when the competition starts.
"If he remains fit and available then I don't think he will be too far off last season's mark. I'm pretty sure he'll continue to score. He's still got that sharpness and that speed.
"If you look across the team and squad, having one game per week, that helps. We can manage his training and recovery in between. But fingers crossed we can keep him fit and available and he gets that little bit of luck with injury. If he does stay fit, he will score goals."
Man United have also been linked with Atletico Madrid's Alvaro Morata and Paris Saint-Germain's Mauro Icardi as potential forward signings before the end of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, a recent report claimed that the 20-time English champions had been offered the opportunity to sign Espanyol centre-forward Raul de Tomas. body check tags ::
