AZ Alkmaar attacker Jesper Karlsson and PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman have reportedly been identified by Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag as potential signings.
Ten Hag is overseeing an impressive season for the Red Devils, with Saturday's 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Manchester derby proving to be the team's ninth straight victory in all competitions.
Wout Weghorst has been signed on loan from Burnley this month, but it is expected to be a quiet end to the January transfer window for the 20-time English champions.
There are plans being made for the summer, though, with a new centre-forward expected to arrive.
According to The Sun, Ten Hag has identified two more potential acquisitions in the shape of Karlsson and Veerman.
The report claims that the Man United boss has asked the club's scouts to monitor 'more than a dozen' youngsters currently playing in the Eredivisie.
"The manager is insistent there are gems in Holland and Germany the club should take a greater interest in," the newspaper quotes a United insider as saying.
"He feels quite strongly that United can steal a march and the scouts have been told United need to ramp things up in both Holland and Germany."
Karlsson, who is capable of operating in a number of different positions in the final third, has scored four goals and registered three assists in 14 appearances at club level this season.
Meanwhile, the Sweden international has a record of 37 goals and 28 assists in 104 matches for AZ since joining the Dutch outfit from Elfsborg in 2020.
Veerman has also been in strong form for PSV this term, scoring seven goals and contributing five assists in 26 appearances from central midfield.
The 24-year-old only joined his current side from Heerenveen last January, but he has already made 50 appearances for the Eindhoven outfit, scoring 13 goals and contributing 12 assists.
PSV are in a strong position when it comes to any possible negotiations, meanwhile, as his current deal is due to run until June 2026.
Man United are currently well-stocked in central midfield, but there could be departures this summer, with Scott McTominay and Fred both linked with exits in recent weeks.
The Red Devils confirmed the arrival of Weghorst on loan from Burnley at the end of last week, and the forward is in line to make his debut in Wednesday's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
