Manchester United are reportedly in a three-way fight with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.

The 23-year-old has found it difficult to impress for the Red and Whites during the 2022-23 campaign, only managing four and three assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.

Felix has a contract at Wanda Metropolitano until June 2026, but it is understood that his relationship with Atletico head coach Diego Simeone has broken down.

The Spanish club's failure to qualify for the knockout round of the Champions League, or the Europa League, has allegedly caused huge financial problems, which could lead to key players being sold in January.

Felix is believed to be available for purchase during the winter transfer market.

According to AS, Man United are firmly interested in the Portugal international, who could be available for a fee in the region of €100m (£86m) at the start of 2023.

However, the report claims that the Red Devils will face strong competition from Bayern and PSG, with the European duo also keen on his signature next year.

Felix is currently in action for Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, and he found the back of the net in his side's first match at the competition against Ghana.

Meanwhile, in total, he has represented Atletico on 129 occasions in all competitions since his arrival from Benfica in July 2019, contributing 33 goals and 18 assists in the process.

Man United will be in the market for a new forward next year due to Cristiano Ronaldo's recent departure, with the club said to be working to bring in a new player in the winter market.

Former Atletico and Man United forward Diego Forlan recently urged Felix to leave Wanda Metropolitano in the near future in order to "increase his performance".

"Joao Felix is a very good player, he is young and has a lot of quality," Forlan told reporters. "They paid a lot of money for him and he has not been playing as expected, but he is still very young.

"There are reports coming out about the possibility of him leaving Atletico and, if he leaves, he could even increase his performance.

"I believe in that. It happens a lot. It happened, for example, with Philippe Coutinho, who played very little at Inter and when he went to Liverpool he improved a lot."

Man United were linked with Felix during his time at Benfica and are also believed to have made an attempt to sign him during the summer transfer window. body check tags ::
