Bayern Munich have reportedly informed Manchester United that they would like to make €40m (£34.5m) from the sale of Benjamin Pavard this summer.

The 27-year-old enjoyed another successful year with the German giants, winning the Bundesliga in the 2022-23 term, although the title was only secured on the final day ahead of rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Pavard made 30 league appearances - 27 of which came from the start - scoring four goals and providing one assist in his fourth season at the Allianz Arena.

The defender burst onto the scene on the world stage at the 2018 World Cup, helping France to win the tournament, with his long-range strike against Argentina instantly becoming one of competition's most iconic goals.

According to 90min, Bayern Munich are demanding €40m (£34.5m) for the sale of Pavard in this window, with Manchester United said to be interested in the player.

The report adds that the Bavarians would be looking to receive performance-related add-ons on top of that guaranteed £34.5m payment, further increasing the cost that United face in securing their target.

It is understood that the two clubs were working towards a deal worth £30m for Pavard, however Bayern have supposedly altered their asking price as the discussions have progressed.

The Red Devils are said to be unhappy with the new stance that Thomas Tuchel's men have taken, although the Premier League giants are not out of the race for the right-back's signature just yet.

A possible switch to Munich for Kyle Walker is understood to be further complicating United's attempt to sign Pavard, with the Bundesliga holders unwilling to let the Frenchman leave without bringing in a replacement.

England international Walker joined the Manchester City from Tottenham Hotspur in July 2017, becoming a major part of a Pep Guardiola side which has dominated the Premier League and recently lifted the Champions League for the first time.

Erik ten Hag's men are preparing for the departure of Harry Maguire, with the centre-back stripped of the captaincy at Old Trafford ahead of the new campaign as his time at the club looks set to end.

It was been widely reported that West Ham United have agreed a £30m fee for the England defender, however it is believed that the player's demands of a £15m pay-off is stalling a switch to the London Stadium.

United started with a centre-back partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, although the latter is said to have picked up a slight ankle injury.

Victor Lindelof replaced the Argentine World Cup winner at the half-time interval as a result, with Maguire being an unused substitute as the Red Devils commenced their league campaign with maximum points. body check tags ::
