Manchester United have reportedly made a new and improved offer of €50m (£43m) for Andre Onana, with the Red Devils desperate to secure the goalkeeper's services.
The English club's opening bid of €40m (£34.1m) plus €5m (£4.3m) add-ons was allegedly rejected by Inter Milan, with the Serie A side thought to value the Cameroonian at closer to €60m (£51.4m).
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Erik ten Hag's side have now placed a €50m (£43m) bid on the table, with the package also including add-ons.
Romano, on his official YouTube account, claims that Inter are 'still not happy' with the bid, but there is a feeling that a compromise will be reached in the coming days to allow him to potentially complete a move to Old Trafford.
Onana has allegedly already come to an agreement with Man United over personal terms, meaning that a deal could move quickly if the two clubs are able to settle on a price.
The goalkeeper, who played under Ten Hag at Ajax, has also been linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia but has reportedly made it clear that he wants to join the 20-time English champions.
Onana was in impressive form for Inter during the 2022-23 campaign after arriving from Ajax, featuring on 41 occasions in all competitions, keeping 19 clean sheets in the process.
The former Cameroon international played a leading role in Inter reaching the Champions League final, which they lost 1-0 to Manchester City in Istanbul.
Man United are allegedly open to signing two new goalkeepers this summer, with David de Gea's contract expiring at the end of last month.
In theory, De Gea could still return to Old Trafford on a free transfer, but it is believed that the goalkeeper is now seriously considering his options, with a move to Fenerbahce thought to be a possibility.
Should Onana arrive, De Gea would have to be prepared to return as a number two, in addition to taking a significant drop on the £375,000-a-week wages that he had been collecting.
As it stands, Tom Heaton is Man United's only senior fit goalkeeper, with the Englishman recently having his contract extended for a further 12 months.
Dean Henderson is back at Carrington, but the stopper, who is still recovering from a thigh injury, is widely expected to complete a permanent move to Nottingham Forest this summer.
On Thursday, it was claimed that Man United are in advanced talks with Urawa Red Diamonds over a £5m deal for Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. body check tags ::
